Alexander A. Aksenov, Co-Founder and CSO
Alexander A. Aksenov is a distinguished scientist, co-founder, and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of our company. With a strong background in chemistry, he received his B.S. from Moscow State University in 1999 and his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2005, followed by postdoctoral work at Carnegie Mellon University from 2006 to 2008.
Alexander A. Aksenov’s research focuses on studying life at the molecular level, with a particular emphasis on metabolomics – the study of processes involving small molecules. His work aims to explore the molecular “dark matter” of living systems, investigating compounds that exist but remain unidentified.
As an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Connecticut, Dr. Aksenov leads the Aksenov Research Group. The group specializes in “global” metabolomics, studying living systems in situ and extensively sampling to capture their native complexity. They utilize advanced mass spectrometry (MS) technology and sophisticated data analysis approaches to extract chemical knowledge from MS data.
Aksenov’s research interests span several areas, including:
- Mass spectrometry
- Physical chemistry
- Analytical chemistry
- Ion mobility
- Metabolomics
In his role as CSO, Aksenov brings his extensive expertise in mass spectrometry and metabolomics to drive the scientific direction of our company. His work contributes significantly to our understanding of the molecular diversity of life and the changes that occur in living systems.
